The lawmaker representing Ibadan South East Constituency II in the Oyo State House of Assembly, Honourable Akeem Ige, has stated that his mission as a politician is to involve himself in the development of all the communities within his constituency, ensure quality of life for the people and render selfless service to the people that elected him.
Ige stated this while inaugurating another phase of million naira streetlight projects he executed for the people of Ademola/Orita Aperin/Oniyere community on 31st December, 2016 which he described as an end of the year/new year special package for the people.
The lawmaker recalled that he had earlier installed the first phase of the streetlight at Eleta-Akatapa-Odinjo-Muslim overhead bridge while the second and third phases were installed at Eleta-Ile Tuntun-Oke Odo-Ilupeju-Kudeti-Idi Arere area before the fourth phase that was inaugurated last Saturday.
Honourable Ige added that his aim is to give back to the people in order to justify the confidence reposed in him by the electorate.
He said that as a politician that knows his onion, he would not wait for the electorate to start complaining before he would take necessary steps to give back to them, despite the current economic recession affecting the financial status of lawmakers in the state.
He used the occasion to sympathise with the people of the community over the murder of a former chairman of the community and leader of the vigilance group by armed robbers.
While congratulating the people on witnessing 2017, he appreciated his constituents for their support and cooperation in the previous year and wished them a fruitful, memorable and prosperous 2017.
Reacting on behalf of the community, the acting Chairman of Ademola/Orita Aperin community, Alhaji Sanni Imoyale, described Honourable Ige as a true grassroots politician who knows what his people need and provides it.
