Ex-beauty queen and owner of Rikaoto By ME fashion line, Mariam Elisha, is yet to recover from the shock of an accident she had when her car caught fire on Eko Bridge, Lagos, Sunday afternoon, March 12.
Maryam Elisha narrowly escaped death after her Mercedes Benz G-wagon went up in flames.
The fire was first noticed by other road users, who called her attention to it. Elisha said that she tried to stop the car immediately, but the breaks couldn’t work. When the car started to slow down, she put it on park and tried to open the door which wouldn’t open until people came to help her out before the fire spread to every part of the car.
Speaking with Saturday Tribune , Elisha said that she is still in shock as she is afraid to sit behind the wheels, let alone drive her other cars because of the memories of the accident.
“I saw death starring me in the face. I didn’t believe that I will die in that fire because I was ready to kill the death before it gets to me. The time I was trying to open the door and it would not budge, I started calling Jesus to save me. At first people were scared to come close to the car because the fire was too much. It was until someone noticed I was inside and was struggling to get out that the person raised alarm. They broke the window and helped me open the door. I thank God for my life.” she said
The Mercedes Benz G-wagon that was razed is said to worth $107, 000, which is approximately N43milion.
