More than 3,400 Small and Medium Enterprises were integrated into one of Nigeria’s e-Commerce platform – Jumia Nigeria – in 2016.
In addition to this, the company stated that major international brands such as Apple, Reckitt Benckiser, Estee Lauder and sanitary fittings manufacturer, Grohe, also became official vendors on Jumia Nigeria in 2016.
“As manufacturers and retailers alike continue to champion self-sustaining business processes, Jumia, Nigeria’s largest online retailer, gathered 2,000 Small and Medium Enterprise owners from its platform for an interactive conference,” the Chief Executive Officer, Jumia Nigeria, Juliet Anammah, said.
Anammah said that discussions revolved around innovative ideas to drive sales and better processes for enhanced customer experience in Nigeria.
She explained to the Small and Medium Enterprise owners the importance of taking advantage of Jumia’s vendor support system to boost their business sales
“Though the beginning of the year has been tough, the economic recession will not impede sales. There are continuous opportunities for our vendors to tap into specially designed activities that will increase their sales and deliver to our shoppers repeated purchases at very competitive prices,” she said.
It was gathered that the event also marked the launch of the brand new Jumia online vendor forum, and sellers got a preview of the upcoming mega events of 2017, such as Jumia Mobile Week, Jumia Black Friday and TV Mega Blast, among others.
One of such specialised programmes for Jumia sellers is the ‘Top Seller Rewards’ programme. When customers shop on Jumia, they are encouraged to rate the service and quality of products received.
“That customer feedback translates into a seller score for the vendors. Vendors who consistently maintain a top rating, then receive benefits such as low commissions, faster payment terms, invitation to the VIP events and more,” Anammah added.
