Ramadan: Muslim group feeds 15, 000 people in Ibadan

The Bodija Muslim Youth Forum (BOMYOF) has provided free meals to over 15,000 people as part of its 2016 Ramadan programmes in Ibadan.

The chairman of the Forum, Alhaji Abdur-Rahman Balogun said this in Ibadan during one of the Iftar programmes.

Balogun said over 500 people residents in Bodija and its environs of Ibadan benefited daily from the free meal since the commencement of Ramadan fasting on June 6.

He said that by the end of 29th or 30th Ramadan fast on Monday July 4 or 5, more than 15,000 people would have benefitted from the free meal of the Forum.

Balogun said that the Forum decided to provide free meal to the people in Ibadan when it discovered that many people were unable to provide meal for their families during this fasting period, adding that the gesture will cushion the effects of non-payment of salaries of workers in the state.

He implored the wealthy Muslims to care for the needy during the month of Ramadan and beyond because of its spiritual benefits.

Balogun said the Forum equally organise daily Tafsir (Translation and commentary on Quran) at the community Islamic centre to nurture the soul of the worshippers.

Meanwhile, the fourth Ramadan lecture of Bodija Estates and Environs Muslim Community would hold on Sunday at the Islamic Centre, Bodija on the “Need for Cohesion among Muslims’’.

The lecture which is being sponsored by Alhaji and Alhaja Jubreel Adekunle would be delivered by Sheikh Qaseem Ajisafe-Akilapa while the Laylatul Qadr of the community would hold on Friday night to be anchored by Imam Abdulhakeem Afuye.
